Ecu Codes 15 & 16 - Coolant Sensor Circuit
- Inspect coolant sensor wiring connectors. Repair any loose or damaged connectors. Clear code. Start engine and run until coolant temperature is above 176°F (80°C). Measure resistance across CTS terminals. If resistance value is more than 700 ohms, replace CTS.
- If resistance is less than 700 ohms, recheck all terminal connections and wiring. If code 15 still exists, check wiring harness. Check that continuity exists between pin No. 33 (No. 36 on Pickup and Trooper II) and Green/Yellow wire, and pin No. 46 (No. 37 on Pickup and Trooper II) and Black Wire. Check that no continuity exists between pin No. 46 (No. 37 on Pickup and Trooper II) and ground.
- If tests in step 2) are not correct, repair or replace harness. If tests were correct, replace ECU. Clear codes and run engine for 2 minutes. Access codes to ensure code 15 is not present.
