DTC Diagnosis Procedure

If DTC P0024 is displayed with DTC P0084, first perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for DTC P0084.

Is DTC P0084 detected?

YES

Perform diagnosis of applicable. Refer to DTC Description .

NO

GO TO 2.

1. Start engine.
2. Check oil pressure warning and confirm it is not displayed.

Is oil pressure warning displayed?

YES

Check the engine oil level. Refer to ENGINE OIL : Inspection .

NO

GO TO 3.

Check the exhaust valve timing control solenoid valve. Refer to Component Inspection .

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 4.

NO

Replace malfunctioning exhaust valve timing control solenoid valve. Refer to TIMING CHAIN : Exploded View .

Check the crankshaft position sensor. Refer to Component Inspection .

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 5.

NO

Replace crankshaft position sensor. Refer to DRIVE PLATE : Exploded View .

Check the exhaust camshaft position sensor. Refer to Component Inspection .

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 6.

NO

Replace malfunctioning exhaust camshaft position sensor. Refer to CAMSHAFT : Exploded View .

Check the following.

• Accumulation of debris to the signal plate of camshaft rear end

• Chipping signal plate of camshaft rear end

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 7.

NO

Remove debris and clean the signal plate of camshaft rear end or replace camshaft. Refer to CAMSHAFT : Exploded View .

Check service records for any recent repairs that may cause timing chain misaligned.

Are there any service records that may cause timing chain misaligned?

YES

Check timing chain installation. Refer to TIMING CHAIN : Exploded View .

NO

GO TO 8.

Refer to ENGINE OIL : Inspection .

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

INSPECTION END.

NO

Clean lubrication line.
