Hybrid System

A parallel hybrid system is used in which a single motor serves for both engine and drive/power generation, and two clutches^* directly connect the motor to the transmission. (1-motor, 2-clutch parallel hybrid system)
NOTE:
* : Torque transmission and interruption to the drive wheels is performed by the components inside the transmission (clutch, brake, etc.).
The combination of a parallel hybrid system in which the engine power is transmitted directly and a power assist from a high-power Li-ion battery improves acceleration performance. The installation of a clutch between the engine and traction motor delivers a large improvement in fuel economy by disconnecting the engine and driving the vehicle using the Li-ion battery.
