Diagnosis Procedure
- Before servicing, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect battery negative terminal, and wait at least 3 minutes or more. To discharge backup capacitor.
- Never use unspecified tester or other measuring device.
- CHECK FRONT AIR BAG MODULE AND SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER
Check whether or not driver air bag module, passenger air bag module, or seat belt pre-tensioner is activated in the past.
Is activation detected?
YES: Replace driver air bag module, passenger air bag module, seat belt pre-tensioner and air bag diagnosis sensor unit. Refer to "EXPLODED VIEW " (driver air bag module), "EXPLODED VIEW " (passenger air bag module), "SEAT BELT RETRACTOR : EXPLODED VIEW " (seat belt pre-tensioner), "EXPLODED VIEW " (air bag diagnosis sensor unit).
NO: GO TO 2
- CHECK SPIRAL CABLE
- Check spiral cable. Refer to "DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE ".
- Rotate steering wheel and check that there is no excessive heaviness, noise, or damage.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 3.
NO: Replace spiral cable. Refer to "EXPLODED VIEW ".
- CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR
Check the harness connector.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 4.
NO: Replace harness connectors.
- CHECK WIRING HARNESS
Check the wiring harness externals.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 5.
NO: Replace wiring harness.
- FINAL CHECK
Perform "AIR BAG" Self Diagnostic Result with CONSULT-III and air bag warning lamp status.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: INSPECTION END
NO: Check intermittent incident. Refer to "INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
