DTC Confirmation Test Malfunction "B" (Using CONSULT-II)
- Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
- Turn ignition off, and wait for 10 seconds. Turn ignition on.
- On CONSULT-II, select DATA MONITOR mode. From DATA MONITOR, select MANU TRIG, then select THRTL POS SEN and ABSOL TH-P/S. On CONSULT-II press RECORD at the same time press accelerator pedal to floor. Print out recorded graph and check following.
- Voltage rise is linear in response to accelerator pedal position. At wide open throttle, TPS voltage should be 4 volts. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- With CONSULT-II in DATA MONITOR mode, select AUTO TRIG. Maintain following conditions for at least 10 consecutive seconds:
- Engine speed at 2000 RPM or more.
- MAS A/F SE-B1 3.2 volts or more (as observed on CONSULT-II).
- Engine coolant temperature 158°F (70°C) or more (as observed on CONSULT-II).
- A/T in drive position or M/T in appropriate gear to drive vehicle uphill maintaining increased engine load for specified time period.
- If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
