Diagnostic Procedure

For component location, see COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For circuit diagram, see Figure .

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove intake air duct. See AIR CLEANER & AIR DUCT under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - EXCEPT I35 & QX4 article. Check if foreign matter is caught between throttle valve and housing. If foreign material is not found inside throttle housing, go to next step. If foreign matter is found inside throttle housing, remove foreign matter and clean electric throttle control actuator inside.
  2. Replace electric throttle control actuator. See INTAKE MANIFOLD COLLECTOR (FX35 & G35) under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article. Perform throttle valve closed position learning and idle air volume learning procedures. See THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING  and IDLE AIR VOLUME LEARNING  under PROGRAMMING.
