Possible Causes

Malfunction is detected when:

1. Next gear position signal and current gear position signal are not in normal pattern compared with shift pattern signal.
2. Next gear position signal and current gear position signal are different even though shift change signal is off.

Possible causes are:

• CAN communication line circuit is open or shorted.
• Defective TCM.
• Defective A/T unit assembly.
