Door Key Cylinder Switch Check

  1. Measure voltage by backprobing between appropriate SECU terminals and ground. See DOOR KEY CYLINDER SWITCH VOLTAGE CHECK  table. If voltages are not as specified, go to next step. If voltages are as specified, door key cylinder switch is okay.

    Unlocked 0
    Neutral About 12

    Unlocked 0
    Neutral About 12
    (1) See Figure , Figure and Fig 1 for terminal location and door key position description.
  2. Disconnect door key cylinder switch 3-pin connector and check continuity between appropriate door key cylinder switch terminals. See DOOR KEY CYLINDER SWITCH CONTINUITY CHECK  table. If continuity is present, check door key cylinder switch ground circuit and harness for open or short between SECU and door key cylinder switch. If continuity is not present, replace door key cylinder switch.

    Terminals No. (1) Key Position Continuity
    (1 & 2) Passenger Door Neutral No
    (3 & 2) Passenger Door Neutral No
    (1 & 2) Driver Door Lock Yes
    (3 & 2) Driver Door Unlock Yes
    (1) See Fig 2 for door key cylinder switch terminal location.
