TAC Module Code 11 (Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Signal)
- Disconnect TAC module connectors. Check terminals for damage or loose connections. Reconnect TAC module connectors. Repeat ABS/TCS self-diagnostic procedure. While observing dash warning indicators, turn ignition on. If SLIP and TCS OFF indicators illuminate during bulb check, system is okay. If SLIP and TCS OFF indicators do not illuminate during bulb check, go to next step.
- Check PCM for DTCs. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEM under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC - INTRODUCTION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Retrieve any DTCs set. If DTC P0120 is present, go to appropriate test procedure. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If no engine performance type DTCs are set, continue with self-diagnostics for TAC module related fault.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect TAC module and PCM connectors. Check continuity of Blue/Black wire between TAC module 20-pin connector terminal No. 2 and PCM terminal No. 37 on 1997 models (terminal No. 61 on 1998 models). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair Blue/Black wire as necessary.
- Check for continuity to ground at TAC module 20-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Blue/Black wire). If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity to ground exists, repair short to ground in Blue/Black wire.
- Check continuity of Black wire between TAC module 20-pin connector terminal No. 1 and PCM connector terminal No. 43 on 1997 models (PCM terminal 129 on 1998 models). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair Black wire as necessary.
- Using DVOM, check for voltage between TAC module 20-pin connector terminals No. 1 and 2. See Figure. Reading should be .3-3.3 volts, depending upon accelerator pedal position. If reading is as specified, reconnect all connectors and retest system If reading is not as specified, replace PCM.
