(Shift Cable Removal And Installation)

ABBREVIATED PROCEDURE

Work H/W Tightening torque N.m (kgf.m/lb-ft) SST/Equipment Chemical etc
  • Removal 
1 Disconnect the battery (-) terminal - - - - -
2 Remove the air cleaner and air duct
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")
- - - - -
3 Remove the ECM
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - ECM - "REMOVAL ")
- - - - -
4 Remove the battery and battery tray
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - Battery - "REMOVAL ")
- - - - -
5 Remove the shift cable from the cable bracket, after loosening the nut - - - - -
6 Remove the shift lever knob & boots (A) and pull both up - - - - -
7 Remove the floor console assembly
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "FLOOR CONSOLE ASSEMBLY ")

8 Remove the shift cable after removing the snap pin - - - - -
9 Remove the retainer by loosening the nuts - - - - -
10 Remove the shift cable from the vehicle - - - - -
  • Installation 
1 Install the retainer and then tighten the nut Nut 11.8 - 14.7 (1.2 - 1.5/8.7 - 10.8) - - -
2 Install the shift cable and then fix the snap pin - - - - Refer to appropriate service information
3 Install the floor console assembly
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "FLOOR CONSOLE ASSEMBLY ")

4 Install the shift lever knob & boots - - - - -
5 Install the shift cable in the cable bracket - - - - -
6 Align the hole in the manual control lever with the "N" position hole of the Position switch and then insert the Position switch guide pin (09480-A3800) - - - - -
7 Lightly tighten the nut after connecting the shift cable in the manual control lever - - - - -
8 Push shift cable lightly to "F" direction shown to eliminate free play of shift cable - - - - -
9 Tighten the nut with the specified torque - 9.8 - 13.7 (1.0 - 1.4/7.2 - 10.1) - - -
10 Remove the Position switch guide pin (09480-A3800) from the hole - - - - -
11 Install the battery and tray
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - Battery - "REMOVAL ")

12 Install the ECM
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - ECM - "INSTALLATION ")
- - - - -
13 Install the air cleaner assembly and air duct
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")
