ESC Control Unit: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery (-) terminal.
  2. Drain the coolant. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLANT ")
  3. Remove the diagnostic connector bracket (A) after removing the bolts.

    Tightening torque: 

    6.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.7 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.0 - 7.2 lb-ft)

  4. Disconnect the ESC control unit (HECU) connector (A).

  5. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connectors (A), (B) and extension wiring connector (C).

  6. Remove the connector bracket (A) after removing the bolt.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb-ft)

  7. Disconnect the water hose (A) after releasing the clamp.

  8. Disconnect the turbocharger outlet hose (A) after releasing the clamp.

  9. Disconnect the brake tube (A), (B) after removing the flare nuts.

    Tightening torque: 

    (A): 18.6 - 22.6 N.m (1.9 - 2.3 kgf.m, 13.7 - 16.6 lb-ft)

    (B): 12.7 - 16.7 N.m (1.3 - 1.7 kgf.m, 9.4 - 12.3 lb-ft)

    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage the brake tube when connecting or disconnecting.
    • Install the flare nuts correctly to fit the brake tube securely.
  10. Remove the ESC Control Unit (A) after removing the nuts.

    Tightening torque: 

    16.7 - 25.5 N.m (1.7 - 2.6 kgf.m, 12.3 - 18.8 lb-ft)

    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to impact the ESC control unit.
