(ESC Control Unit Removal And Installation)

ABBREVIATED PROCEDURE

  • Removal 
1 Disconnect the battery (-) terminal - - - - -
2 Drain the coolant.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLANT ")

3 Remove the diagnostic connector bracket Bolt 6.8 - 9.8 (0.7 - 1.0/5.0 - 7.2) - - -
4 Disconnect the ESC control unit (HECU) connector - - - - -
5 Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connectors and extension wiring connector - - - - -
6 Remove the connector bracket Bolt 7.8 - 9.8 (0.8 - 1.0/5.8 - 7.2) - - -
7 Disconnect the water hose. Clamp - - - -
8 Disconnect the turbocharger outlet hose. Clamp - - - -
9 Disconnect the brake tube Nut (A): 18.6 - 22.6 (1.9 - 2.3/13.7 - 16.6)
(B): 12.7 - 16.7
(1.3 - 1.7/9.4 - 12.3)

10 Remove the ESC control unit Nut 16.7 - 25.5 (1.7 - 2.6/12.3 - 18.8) - - Refer to appropriate service information
  • Installation 
Install in the reverse order of removal. Refer to appropriate service information
  • Additional work 
  • Brake Bleeding Procedures
    • Fill the brake reservoir with brake fluid and perform the brake bleeding procedure.
  • Perform the 'Variant Coding', 'Pressure Sensor Calibration', 'Longitudinal G Sensor Calibration'
    • After installation, perform the "Variant Coding', 'Pressure Sensor Calibration', 'Longitudinal G Sensor Calibration" using a diagnostic tool
  • Perform the 'Assembly Check (ECU replacement)'
    • After replacing the ESC control unit execute the "Assembly Check (ECU replacement)" of the additional function to check that the mounting is successful
