Oil Temperature Sensor (OTS)
Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) system operation mainly depends on engine oil density, which changes according to temperature. The Engine Control Module (ECM) compensates the temperature-driven changes based on the signals it received from the Oil Temperature Sensor (OTS). The engine ECM also uses the OTS output values to operate the CVVT at the temperature levels above the pre-set temperature value because a low temperature can exacerbate the frictions among engine components and the responsiveness of the CVVT.
