DTC Information and Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

Item Detecting Condition Possible cause
Case1 Main Action
  • Characteristic line strong shift to rich
  1. Poor connection or harness damage
  2. Front HO2S
Prerequisite Condition
  • Upstream O2 sensor operative readiness is detected.
  • Downstream O2 sensor operative readiness is detected.
  • Active test is not activated.
  • Catalyst purge after fuel cut-off is not activated.
  • Engine speed is higher than 600 rpm.
  • Mass air flow is less than 83 g/sec.
  • Exhaust gas temperature (model) is between 300°C (572°F) and 800°C (1, 472°F).
Threshold value
  • Upstream lambda (rich) is lower than 0.9, Downstream O2 signal (lean) is lower than 0.2V.
  • When the above conditions are fulfilled, mass air flow is integrated. Malfunction is detected when the accumulated mass air flow reaches 300g.
Diagnosis Time
  • 5 to 100 Seconds (depends on intake air mass)
Case2 Main Action
  • Characteristic line middle shift to rich
Prerequisite Condition
  • No fuel cut-off is activated.
  • No full load is activated with 90% of accelerator pedal value.
  • No catalyst overheating protection is activated.
  • Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V.
Threshold value
  • Active test symptom during Lambda set point shift to lean (after detecting DTC P209600)
  • Lambda vlaue is lower than 1.05 when setpoint equals 1.15.
Diagnosis Time
  • 10 seconds after Lambda set point shifts to corresponding side.
MIL-On Condition
  • 3rd Driving Cycle
