Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn ignition OFF switch and the disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Remove the battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  3. Battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "BATTERY ")

  4. Loosen the nut (A) from the manual control lever.
  5. Remove the shift cable (B) from the shift cable bracket (C).

  6. Remove the floor console assembly.

    (Refer to Body - "FLOOR CONSOLE ")

  7. Remove the snap pin (A).
  8. Disconnect the cable eye end (B) from the shift lever.
  9. Disconnect the cable socket (C) from the shift lever.

  10. Remove the airbag module.

    (Refer to Restraint - "AIRBAG MODULE ")

  11. Loosen the retainer mounting nuts (A).
  12. Remove the shift cable by pulling it toward the interior.
