Dealers must perform this Service Campaign whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.

DESCRIPTION

On some VELOSTER (FS) vehicles equipped with the manual heater control unit, the internal switch for the blower (fan) speed control may become inoperative.

Follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin to replace the heater control unit.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Turn the ignition to OFF  .
  2. Release the center fascia panel mounting clips (A) in the following steps using the puller tool.

    CAUTION: Wear eye protection goggles to prevent possible injury during the following steps.
  3. Insert the hook end of the puller tool (B) positioned into the air vent hole as shown for the removal process.

  4. Securely position the puller tool to the upper right corner of the LH Center Vent  and release the clips with a firm pull.

  5. Securely position the puller tool to the upper left corner of the RH Center Vent  and release the clips with a firm pull.

    NOTE: Use one hand to stabilize the hook end of the tool against the recessed portion of the center vent inner lip while pulling. This will help prevent slipping and scratching the center fascia panel near the vent. Firmly tug the T-handle of the tool to release clips.
  6. Once the holding clips are released, carefully separate the center fascia panel (C) to access the rear connectors.

  7. Disconnect the connectors (D) as shown.

  8. Loosen the manual heater control unit mounting screws (E).

  9. Remove the old heater control unit (F) from the center fascia panel and replace it with the new heater control unit.
    NOTE: Red box area on the right shows the general location at the back of the unit where the P/N can be found.

  10. Reinstall all the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
  11. Verify repair.
    • Check operation of all panel switches.
    • Check operation of the heater control unit.
