Dealers must perform this Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.

DESCRIPTION

This bulletin describes the procedure of removing and installing the TMU for the 2013 Veloster (FS) and the 2013 Genesis Coupe (BK).

Applicable Production Date Range (FS): February 20, 2013 - April 19, 2013 

Applicable Production Date Range (BK): March 21, 2013 - March 29, 2013

NOTE: Verify that the vehicle has an open Service Campaign using the VIN.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

(FS) Veloster TMU removal and installation

CAUTION:
  1. Be careful not to scratch or damage the trim during the procedure. 
  2. Use a magnetic screw driver during removal and installation of all screws. 
  3. Document all customer presets before removing power. 
  4. Perform the procedure with the ignition in the off position, and disconnect the (-) battery terminal.
  1. Remove the glove box by rotating the stopper (A).

  2. Remove the air damper (B) located in the right side of the glove box.

  3. Remove the right and left hinge pins (C) under the glove box.

  4. Remove the glove box housing cover (D) by loosening the 8 screws.

  5. Remove the TMU assembly mounting bolts and nuts (E).

    Tightening Torque :

    4.9~5.8 Nm(0.5~0.6 kgf.m, 3.7~4.3 lb-ft)

  6. Disconnect the connectors (F), and then remove the TMU assembly.

  7. Connect the new TMU assembly (G).
  8. Complete the installation procedure in the reverse order of removal.

  9. Refer to TSB 12-BE-003 "Confirmation Procedures after replacement of Blue Link Telematics Unit. (TMU)"

    CAUTION:

  10. Remove the console upper cover (A) using a flat edge trim tool.

    Using the trim removal tool pry the console upwards until it is free enough to be completely removed.

  11. Release the shift lever (B) with the release lever (C) pushed in the direction of the arrow, gear is moved from Park to Neutral.

  12. Lift the center fascia panel (D), and then separate it from the crash pad assembly.

  13. Disconnect the connectors (E).

  14. Remove the TMU assembly mounting nuts (F) and (G).

    Tightening Torque :

    4.9~5.8 Nm(0.5~0.6 kgf.m, 3.7~4.3 lb-ft)

  15. Disconnect the TMU assembly connectors (H), and then remove the TMU assembly (I).

    NOTE: When removing the TMU assembly, rotate it clockwise by 90 degrees.

  16. Connect the new TMU and re-assemble the vehicle in the reverse order of removal.
  17. Refer to TSB 12-BE-003 "Confirmation Procedures after replacement of Blue Link Telematics Unit. (TMU)"
