P0505: Idle Air Control System: DTC Detecting Condition

P0505 IDLE AIR CONTROL SYSTEM

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy
  • Plausibility Check
  • A stuck or binding throttle plate
  • Maladjustment of the accelerator cable
  • Restriction in intake or exhaust system
  • Carbon buildup or adjustment of the accelerator cable
  • Contact resistance in connectors
  • Faulty ICA valve
Enable Conditions
  • No relevant failure
  • Catalyst heating active
  • Drive train is not engaged
  • Estimated altitude > 820 hPa
  • 11 V < Battery voltage < 16 V
  • Time after start elapsed > 20 sec.
  • Lambda controller not active
Threshold Value
  • Integral of deviation between MAP_setpoint and MAP_sensor > threshold value.
Diagnostic Time
  • 12 seconds
Mil On Condition
  • 2 Driving Cycles
