DTC P0116 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Range/Performance: DTC Detecting Condition

DTC DETECTING CONDITION

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy
  • Coolant temp not reached warm up state
  • Contact resistance in connectors
  • Defective cooling system
  • Defective thermostat
Enable Conditions Case 1
  • No ECTS failure
  • 6 < Battery voltage < 16V
Case 2
  • No relevant failure
  • TOIL at engine stop of previous DC > 70°C(158°F)
  • ECT at engine stop of previous DC > 70°C(158°F)
  • Engine oil temperature at Start < 35°C(95°F)
  • Intake Air Temperature at Start < 35°C(95°F)
Threshold value Case 1
  • TCO model increase > Threshold But TCO means increase < Threshold (Threshold depends on coolant start temp.)
Case 2
  • Start coolant temperature > 53°C(127°F) with oil temperature < 35°C(95°F)
Diagnostic Time Case 1
  • 10~30 minutes
Case 2
  • Immediate
Fall Safe
  • Catalyst monitoring is inhibited
  • Post catalyst fuel trim system monitoring is inhibited
