Component Inspection

  1. Measure resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of the sensor connector (Component side).
IAT SENSOR TEMPERATURE VS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

    Temperature Resistance (kΩ)
    -20 °C (-4°F) Approx. 14.26~16.02
    20 °C (68° F) Approx. 2.35~2.54
    80°C (176°F) Approx. 0.31~0.32

  2. Is IAT sensor data within the specification?

    YES

    • Check for poor connection between ECM and component: backed out terminal, improper mating, broken locks or poor terminal to wire connection. Repair as necessary and refer to VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR .

    NO

    • Check IAT sensor for contamination, deterioration, or damage. Substitute with a known-good IAT sensor and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace IAT sensor and then refer to VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR .
