Test Procedure
- Turn ignition off. Connect Hi-Scan Pro tool or equivalent to OBD-II Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure. Turn ignition on. Monitor for DTCs. Verify DTC P0325 is set and go to next step.
- Ensure vehicle is fueled with at least 87 octane fuel. If vehicle is fueled as specified, go to next step. If vehicle is not fueled as specified, refuel vehicle with 87 or higher octane fuel and go to step 8.
- Turn ignition off. Check if knock sensor is tightened to 11-18 ft. lbs. (15-25 N.m). If knock sensor is tightened as specified, go to next step. If knock sensor is not tightened as specified, retighten knock sensor to torque specification and go to step 8.
- Disconnect Knock sensor 2-pin harness connector. See Fig 1. measure resistance between Knock sensor connector terminal No. 1 and 2 (component side). Resistance should be approximately 5 ohms @ 68°F (20°C). If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace Knock sensor with known-good component and go to step 8.
- Disconnect ECM 81-pin harness connector. See Figure. Measure resistance between Knock sensor connector terminal No. 1 and ECM connector terminal No. 19 (Orange wire). Also measure resistance between Knock sensor connector terminal No. 2 and ECM connector terminal No. 20 (Orange wire). Resistances should be one ohm or less. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If any resistance is not as specified, repair open or short circuit (in either Orange wire) between Knock sensor and ECM. After repair go to step 8.
- With Knock sensor and ECM harness connector disconnected, Measure resistance between ground Knock sensor connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire). Resistances should be infinity. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair short circuit (in Orange wire) between Knock sensor and ECM. After repair go to step 8.
- Verify than Knock sensor and ECM connectors are secure. If connectors are okay, replace Knock sensor with known-good component. If after sensor replacement problem persists, replace ECM and go to next step.
- Return vehicle to original condition. Clear codes using Hi-Scan Pro tool or equivalent. Verify repairs by driving vehicle and monitoring for pending codes. If DTC is set during test drive, follow appropriate DTC test procedure.
