Ignition and Start Switch Replacement

Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Remove the lower steering column shroud. Refer to Steering Column Shroud Replacement .
1 Ignition and Start Switch Electrical Connector
2 Ignition and Start Switch Bolt (Qty: 2)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten:  0.74 N.m (7 lb in)

3 Ignition and Start Switch

Procedure

  1. In order to remove the ignition and start switch, the ignition lock cylinder must be in the RUN position.
  2. Upon completion of the installation, perform the 10 Minute Re-Learn Procedure. Refer to Control Module References for the Theft Deterrent Module Programming and Setup procedure.

Tip:  For vehicles without RPO BAE, the passlock sensor is part of the ignition and start switch.
