Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Cadillac STS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the hood ajar switch.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal C and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Hood Closed Switch and Hood Open Switch parameters are Inactive.
    • If not the specified value, test the appropriate signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RIM.
  4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and ground. Verify the scan tool Hood Open Switch parameter is Active.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or and open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RIM.
  5. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal B and ground. Verify the scan tool Hood Closed Switch parameter is Active.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or and open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RIM.
  6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the hood ajar switch.
