Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 GMC Canyon and 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the new fuel pressure regulator filter.
  2. Lightly lubricate the O-ring seals (2, 7) with mineral oil GM P/N 9981704.
  3. Install the new O-ring seals (2, 7) to the following:
    • The fuel pressure regulator (3)
    • The fuel rail return pipe (6)
  4. Press the fuel rail return pipe (6) and O-ring seal (7) into the fuel pressure regulator (3).
  5. Press the fuel pressure regulator (3) and O-ring seal (2) into the fuel rail (1).
  6. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  7. Install the fuel pressure regulator screws (4, 5).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fuel pressure regulator screws to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

  9. Connect the atmospheric vent hose (2) to the fuel pressure regulator (3).

  11. Connect the fuel return hose/pipe (1) to the fuel rail. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar) .
  12. Inspect for leaks.
    1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn ON the ignition.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
