DTC P050A: Inspection

Air Flow Chamber, Air Cleaner Housing Visual Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Check the condition at the connections or for any blockage at the following:

    * Air flow chamber

    * Air cleaner housing

• Normal Conditions
  • Conditions at the connections are OK, and there is no blockages.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the intake air system component(s).

Throttle Body Functional Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Do the HDS [ETCS(TAC) TEST].

• Normal Conditions
  • The test result is NORMAL.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the throttle body.

Throttle Body Visual Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
  • Throttle body inlet hose: disconnected from the throttle body

• Procedure
  • Do the throttle body cleaning - Refer to: Throttle Body Cleaning () or Throttle Body Carbon Accumulation Check () .
  • Check the throttle valve and bore for dirt, carbons, or damages.

• Normal Conditions
  • There is no dirt, carbons, or damages.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the throttle body.

MAF Sensor Functional Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Start the engine, and let it idle.
  • Make sure the following conditions are met:
  • • HDS [ECT Sensor 1] above 158°F (70°C )
    • Transmission in P or N
    • All engine and electrical loads turned off
  • Monitor the HDS [Engine Speed] and hold the engine speed at 2,500 rpm for 30 seconds.
  • Confirm the HDS [MAF Sensor] while holding the engine speed at 2,500 rpm.

• Normal Conditions
  • HDS [MAF Sensor] value is between 11.5 g/s and 16.1 g/s  .

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with MAF sensor/IAT sensor.

IAT sensor Functional Inspection 

Preconditions 

• Engine is cold condition (ambient temperature)

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Note the ambient temperature.
  • Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
  • Quickly note the HDS [IAT Sensor (1)].
  • Compare the HDS [IAT Sensor (1)] value to the recorded ambient temperature.

• Normal Conditions
  • The difference between the HDS [IAT Sensor (1)] value and the ambient temperature is less than 5.4°F (3°C)  .

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with MAF sensor/IAT sensor.
