DTC P2176: Inspection

Throttle Body Visual Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Check for sludge or carbon on the throttle valve.

• Normal Conditions
  • There is no sludge or carbon on the throttle valve.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, clean the throttle body - Refer to: Throttle Body Cleaning () or Throttle Body Carbon Accumulation Check () .

Throttle Body Inspection 

NOTE:  Since there is no direct method to test the inspection item, troubleshooting is performed using a known-good component.

Test Procedure 

• Install a known-good throttle body and attempt to reproduce the failure.

Results 

• If the failure is reproduced, there is a problem with other related components.
• If the symptom/DTC goes away, the throttle body must be faulty.

MTR1, MTR2 Open Wire Inspection 

NOTICE:  

Before disconnecting the PCM connector, jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
  • Throttle body connector (6P): disconnected
  • PCM connector E (114P): disconnected
• Procedure
  • Perform the inspection according to the following chart.

			(Disconnected) Throttle body connector (6P) female terminals	(Disconnected) PCM connector E (114P) female terminals

	MTR1 open wire inspection	OFF			There is less than 1 Ω
	MTR2 open wire inspection	OFF			There is less than 1 Ω

Results 

• If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.

PCM Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• If the other inspection item(s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining PCM is the cause.

Results 

• There is a problem with the PCM.
