DTC P00FE

DTC P00FE  : Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent Line Blockage

General Description

Vent blockage is determined by the difference in the volume of space of the fuel tank. The powertrain control module (PCM) closes the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve and estimates the volume of space from the pressure behavior when the pressure is decompressed by the EVAP leak check module. If the estimated volume of space is small, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Once per driving cycle
Sequence None
Duration -
DTC Type Two drive cycles, MIL on

Enable Conditions

Common Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
Barometric pressure [ Baro Sensor ] 76 kPa (569 mmHg, 22.5 inHg) -
12 volt battery voltage [ Battery ] 10.5 V -
Other No refueling during the driving cycle
[ ] : HDS Parameter

Conditions before soak

Condition Minimum Maximum
Driving time 10 minutes -
Vehicle speed [ Vehicle Speed ] * 25 mph (40 km/h) -
Drive distance after refueling 7 miles (10 km) -
Average fuel level [ Fuel Level (Average) ] - 85 %
*: For at least 5 minutes

Conditions during soak

Condition Minimum Maximum
Soak duration 5 hours -
Engine coolant temperature [ ECT Sensor 2 ] 40.0 deg.F (4.4 deg.C) 95 deg.F (35 deg.C)

Malfunction Threshold

The calculated volume of space in the EVAP system is 10.7 L (2.83 US gal) or less.

Possible Cause

NOTE:

The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

  • EVAP vent line blockage
  • Vent shut float blockage

Confirmation Procedure

Operating Condition

  1. Drive the vehicle for at least 10 minutes with the following conditions:
    • Average fuel level [ Fuel Level (Average) ] of 85 % or less
    • Distance of 7 miles (10 km) or more after refueling
    • Vehicle speed [ Vehicle Speed ] of 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for at least 5 minutes
  2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and wait for at least 5 hours with maintaining the engine coolant temperature [ ECT Sensor 2 ] between 40.0 deg.F (4.4 deg.C) and 95 deg.F (35 deg.C).

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
