Transmission End Crankshaft Oil Seal - In Car: Replacement

  1. Transmission - Remove - Refer to:

    Automatic Transmission - Removal and Installation (6-Speed A/T) or

    Automatic Transmission - Removal and Installation (9-Speed A/T) .

  2. Drive Plate - Remove - Refer to:

    Drive Plate (6-Speed A/T) ('16-'18 9-Speed A/T) - Removal and Installation

    Drive Plate (9-Speed A/T) (2019 2020 2021) - Removal and Installation

  3. Transmission End Crankshaft Oil Seal - Remove

    1. Clean and dry the crankshaft oil seal housing.

    2. Apply a light coat of new engine oil to the transmission end crankshaft and to the lip of the crankshaft oil seal.

    3. Using the driver handle, 15 x 135L (A) and the oil seal driver attachment, 106 mm (B), drive in a new transmission end crankshaft oil seal (C) until the oil seal driver attachment bottoms on the engine block end cover. Align the hole in the oil seal driver attachment with the pin on the crankshaft.

    4. Clean the excess oil off the crankshaft, and check that the transmission end oil seal lip is not distorted.

  5. All Removed Parts - Install
    1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
