Power Tailgate Control Unit Input Test

NOTE:

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect the power tailgate control unit connectors.

Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

Reconnect the connectors, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired resultis not obtained
C1 BRN Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. B1-4 fuse
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
B5 PNK Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. B6 fuse
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
B10 WHT Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. A26 fuse
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A18 PUR Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground:There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. C28 fuse
  • Faulty under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
C2 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G602)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
C4 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G602)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
A1 BLU Shift position/mode in P Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty TCM
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Shift position/mode in any position other than P Measure the voltage to ground:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty TCM
  • A short to ground or high resistance in the wire
