Shift Lock Release and Release Spring Removal and Installation: Removal
- Shift Lever Panel (AT)
- Carefully pry out the shift lever panel (A) with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (B, C) and the hooks (D), then remove the shift lever panel.
- Front Console Cover - Both Sides
- Remove the clips (A).
- Detach the clips (B), then remove the front console covers (C).

Right side
- Center Console Rear Trim
- Carefully pry out the center console rear trim (A) with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (B) and the hooks (C), then remove the center console rear trim.
- Center Console
- Carefully pry out the center lower cover (A) with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (B), then remove the center lower cover.
- Remove the bolt (C).
- Remove the bolts (A).
- Remove the console box mat (A), then remove the bolts (B).
- Disconnect the connectors (A), and remove the clips (B).
- Slide both front seats fully rearward, and recline the seat-backs around two thirds to the rear.
- Remove the center console (A).
- Center Maintenance Cover
- Remove the maintenance cover (A).
- Shift Cable - Disconnection Lever Side
- Shift the shift lever to R.
- Insert a 6.0 mm (0.236 in) pin (A) into the positioning holes (B).NOTE: Use only a 6.0 mm (0.236 in) pin with no burrs.
- Remove the nut (C) securing the shift cable end (D).
- Unlock the retainer lock (A).
- Rotate the socket holder retainer (A) counterclockwise (B) until it stops, and push the retainer lock (C) into the socket holder retainer to lock the retainer.
- Slide the socket holder (A) away from the bracket as shown to remove the shift cable (B) from the shift cable bracket (C).NOTE: Do not remove the shift cable by pulling the shift cable guide (D).
- A/T Shift Lever Assembly
- Disconnect the shift lever connector.
- Remove the shift lever assembly.
- D3 Switch Harness - Disconnection
- Remove the harness wire tie (A).
- Disconnect the D3 switch connector (B).
- Shift Lever Knob/Shift Lever Knob Ring AssemblyNOTE: Do not wipe off the special grease applied to the area of the shift lever marked with an asterisk (*) when you disassemble or assemble it.
- Unhook the D3 switch harness (A) from the harness guide (B).
- Remove the shift lever knob/shift lever knob ring assembly (C).
- A/T Gear Position Indicator Panel Assembly
- Remove the A/T gear position indicator panel light socket (A) from the A/T gear position indicator panel assembly (B).
- Unhook the A/T gear position indicator panel light harness (C) from the harness guide (D).
- Remove the A/T gear position indicator panel assembly by expanding the four lock tabs (E).
- Shift Lock Release
- Remove the shift lock release (A) and the release spring (B) by pressing the lock tab (C).
