Tailgate Outer Handle Switch Test/Replacement

  1. Open the tailgate, and remove the tailgate trim (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION-TAILGATE AREA ).
  2. Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the tailgate outer handle switch.

  3. Check for continuity between terminals No. 1 and No. 2.
    • There should be continuity with the outer handle lever pulled.
    • There should be no continuity with the outer handle lever released.
  4. If the continuity is not as specified, remove the latch assembly (see TAILGATE LATCH REPLACEMENT ) and then remove the outer handle (A), then replace the tailgate outer handle switch (B).
