Engine Oil Pressure Test: Test

If the low oil pressure indicator stays on with the engine running, Check The Engine Oil Level . If the oil level is correct:

  1. Rocker Arm Oil Pressure Sensor - Remove - Refer to: ROCKER ARM OIL PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (2014 2015), or ROCKER ARM OIL PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (2017)
  2. Engine Oil Pressure - Test

    1. Install an oil pressure gauge (A).

    2. ENTER THE MAINTENANCE MODE, THEN START THE ENGINE

Shut it off immediately if the gauge registers no oil pressure. Repair the problem before continuing.

    3. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature (fan comes on at least twice). The pressure should be:

    Engine Oil Temperature:  176 °F (80 °C)
    Engine Oil Pressure:
    At Idle (1, 200 rpm):  168.7 kPa (1.720 kgf/cm 2, 24.46 psi) min.
    At 2, 000 rpm:  217.7 kPa (2.220 kgf/cm 2, 31.58 psi) min.

    4. If oil pressure is out of specifications, inspect these items:

    • Oil filter blocked or plugged.
    • Oil strainer blocked or plugged.

    5. Remove the oil pressure gauge.

  3. All Removed Parts - Install
    1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
