DTC 83: PCM Communication Error
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 86 indicated with DTC 83 at the same time?
YES -Do the troubleshooting for DTC 86 (see DTC 86: F-CAN COMMUNICATION ). ■
NO -Go to step 3.
- Check for the fuel and emissions system DTCs with the HDS (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION
).
Are any DTCs indicated?
YES -Do the applicable troubleshooting for the PCM. ■
NO -Go to step 4.
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then back to ON (II).
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 83 indicated?
YES -Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. If necessary, substitute a know-good VSA modulator-control unit (see VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ) and retest. ■
NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting (see INTERMITTENT FAILURES ).
