DTC P0843: CVT Driven Pulley Pressure Sensor (Open)
- Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot with the HDS, and review the General Troubleshooting Information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
- This code is caused by an electrical circuit problem and cannot be caused by a mechanical problem in the transmission.
- Check the Driven Pulley Pressure Sensor (V) with the HDS in the A/T Data List in A/T Mode Menu.
Does the Driven Pulley Pressure Sensor (V) exceed 4.84 V?
YES -Go to step 2.
NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CVT driven pulley pressure sensor and the PCM.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the CVT driven pulley pressure sensor 3P connector.
- Connect jumper between CVT driven pulley pressure sensor 3P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Check the Driven Pulley Pressure Sensor (V) with the HDS in the A/T Data List in A/T Mode Menu.
Does the Driven Pulley Pressure Sensor (V) exceed 4.84 V?
YES -Go to step 7.
NO -Replace the CVT driven pulley pressure sensor (see CVTF TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT ), then go to step 28.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Remove the jumper from the CVT driven pulley pressure sensor connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Measure the voltage between CVT driven pulley pressure sensor 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3.

Is there about 5 V?
YES -Go to step 19.
NO -Go to step 11.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect PCM connector B (49P).
- Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal B19 and CVT driven pulley pressure sensor 3P connector terminal No. 1.Fig 3: Checking Continuity Between PCM Connector Terminal B19 And CVT Driven Pulley Pressure Sensor 3P Connector Terminal 1

Is there continuity?
YES -Go to step 15.
NO -Repair an open in the wire between PCM connector terminal B19 and the CVT driven pulley pressure sensor, then go to step 28.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect PCM connector B (49P).
- Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal B34 and CVT driven pulley pressure sensor 3P connector terminal No. 3.Fig 4: Checking Continuity Between PCM Connector Terminal B34 And CVT Driven Pulley Pressure Sensor 3P Connector Terminal 3

Is there continuity?
YES -Go to step 23.
NO -Repair an open in the wire between PCM connector terminal B34 and the CVT driven pulley pressure sensor, then go to step 28.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect PCM connector C (49P).
- Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal C39 and CVT driven pulley pressure sensor 3P connector terminal No. 2.Fig 5: Checking Continuity Between PCM Connector Terminal C39 And CVT Driven Pulley Pressure Sensor 3P Connector Terminal 2

Is there continuity?
YES -Go to step 23.
NO -Repair an open in the wire between PCM connector terminal C39 and the CVT driven pulley pressure sensor, then go to step 28.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see PCM UPDATE ), or substitute a known-good PCM (see SUBSTITUTING THE PCM ).
- Start the engine in P, and turn it off for at least 10 seconds after starting the engine. Restart the engine in P, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0843 indicated?
YES -If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM (see SUBSTITUTING THE PCM ), then recheck. If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1.
NO -Go to step 27.
- Monitor the OBD status for P0843 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the HDS indicate PASSED?
YES -If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM (see PCM REPLACEMENT ). If any other DTCs were indicated on step 26, go to the indicated DTC'S TROUBLESHOOTING .
NO -Check for poor connections and loose terminals at the CVT driven pulley pressure sensor and the PCM. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM (see SUBSTITUTING THE PCM ), then recheck. If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, return to 25 and recheck.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Start the engine in P, and turn it off for at least 10 seconds after starting the engine. Restart the engine in P, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0843 indicated?
YES -Check for poor connections and loose terminals at the CVT driven pulley pressure sensor and the PCM, then go to step 1.
NO -Go to step 32.
- Monitor the OBD status for P0843 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the HDS indicate PASSED?
YES -Troubleshooting is complete. If any other DTCs were indicated on step 31, go to the indicated DTC'S TROUBLESHOOTING .
NO -Check for poor connections and loose terminals at the CVT driven pulley pressure sensor and the PCM, then go to step 1. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, return to step 30 and recheck.
