Cruise Indicator/Dimmer Switch Circuit

NOTE: Cruise indicator is controlled by dimmer switch circuit. If cruise control works, but cruise indicator does not illuminate, perform following diagnostic procedure.

Check for blown fuse No. 25 (7.5-amp) in underdash fuse/relay block. Replace fuse as necessary. If fuse is okay, remove instrument cluster and check cruise indicator bulb. See INSTRUMENT PANELS - CIVIC or INSTRUMENT PANELS - CR-V article. Replace bulb as necessary. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
Turn ignition off. Carefully pry dimmer switch from dashboard. Dash light brightness controller is built into dimmer switch assembly. Disconnect dimmer switch 3-pin connector. Inspect connector and switch terminals for damage or corrosion. Repair or replace as necessary.
Using DVOM, check for continuity between dimmer switch 3-pin connector Black wire and ground. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire or poor ground connection (G401). See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
With headlight switch on, check for battery voltage between dimmer switch 3-pin connector Red/Black wire and ground. If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, check underdash fuse No. 30 (7.5 amp). Replace fuse as necessary. If fuse is okay, locate and repair open circuit between dimmer switch and battery.
With headlight switch on, use a jumper wire to ground dimmer switch 3-pin connector Red wire. If dash lights illuminate, repair open circuit in Red wire. If dash lights do not illuminate, replace dimmer switch.
