Mode Control Motor Test

CAUTION: During this procedure, if polarity of test battery is reversed, the mode control motor may be damaged. Also, do not run motor for more than a few seconds.
  1. Unplug mode control motor connector. Apply 12 volts across terminals No. 8 (+) and No. 4 (-). See Fig 1 . Connect one end of a jumper wire to terminal No. 4. Connect other end of same jumper wire to terminals No. 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 in sequence, then start back again at terminal No. 1.
  2. The motor may not operate the first time you connect the jumper wire to terminal No. 1, but it must operate when you connect to terminal No. 1 the second time (when you restart the sequence). If motor does not operate when jumper wire is connected to each terminal, check for binding door or door linkage. If door and linkage are okay, replace motor.
