CRX (Cold Engine)

NOTE: Cold engine test applies to Federal HF models only.
  1. Engine coolant temperature temperature must be below 122°F (50°C). Start engine and let idle. Disconnect vacuum hose No. 6 from throttle controller and check for vacuum at hose. There should be no vacuum. If there is no vacuum, proceed to step 4).
  2. If there is vacuum, check for voltage between dashpot control solenoid valve Red/Yellow and Black wire terminals (in control box No. 1). If there is voltage, replace dashpot control solenoid valve and retest. If there is no voltage, check clutch switch, neutral switch and speed sensor.
  3. Check for voltage at control unit connector (White/Yellow wire). Check for voltage at control unit connector (Black/Yellow wire) with ignition on. If there is no voltage, check wiring. Check Black and Brown/Black wires for continuity between control unit and ground. There should be continuity.
  4. If there was no vacuum in step 1), raise and support front of vehicle with jack stands. Block rear wheels and set parking brake. Position shift lever in Neutral or release clutch at speeds greater than 3 MPH. Check for vacuum at hose. There should be no vacuum.
  5. If there is no vacuum, proceed to CRX MODELS (HOT ENGINE) testing in this section.
  6. Check for voltage at control unit connector (White/Yellow wire). Check for voltage at control unit connector (Black/Yellow wire) with ignition on. If there is no voltage, check wiring. Check Black and Brown/Black wires for continuity between control unit and ground. There should be continuity.
