EBCM monitors for bound-up ESB, stuck motor or seized hydraulic modulator. When release is commanded during initialization, the ESB should release the motor, resulting in sensed current being less than commanded current (motor is spinning freely). If the motor is not moving, sensed current will be equal to stall current.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Ensures proper ABS motor circuits are located in proper connector cavities.
- Checks for proper motor movement during apply and release commands from Tech 1.
- Compares EBCM command current to motor feedback current.
- Checks for proper hydraulic modulator gear and piston movement.
- Verifies motor can actually apply when commanded.
- Checks for short between circuit 9C01 and 9D01.
- Checks for internally shorted motor.
- Determines if fault is due to poor terminal contact or faulty EBCM.
