DTC 16 - Abs Enable Relay Coil Circuit Open: Notes

Ignition voltage is supplied through terminal No. 2 of the ABS enable relay. The EBCM engages pull-in coil of relay by completing the ground circuit at terminal D6 of the EBCM. This energizes relay windings, closing the internal contacts which supplies power to the motors and solenoids.
DTC 16 can set anytime after the EBCM commands the ABS enable relay on.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Indicates if the EBCM is capable of controlling the ABS enable relay as commanded.
- Determines that there is continuity through the pull-in coil of the relay. Tester J 39200 is a DVOM with a 10-megohm input impedance.
- Checks for high resistance in circuit 9A01.
- Checks for high resistance in circuit 9X01.
- Determines if fault is due to poor terminal contact.
- Ensures DTC was not set due to a poor connection.
- Determines if fault is due to poor connection or poor terminal contact.
