DTC 98 - Accelerometer Circuit Open Or Shorted To Battery: Notes

The accelerometer provides additional vehicle speed reference to the EBCM. Voltage signal ranges from 2.4-2.6 volts at zero speed change (constant motion). Accelerometer voltage decreases when vehicle is accelerated and increases during deceleration.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Checks if malfunction is currently present.
- Checks for short to ground in accelerometer signal circuit.
- Checks for short to voltage in accelerometer power circuit.
- Checks for high resistance in accelerometer signal circuit.
- Checks for possible intermittent malfunction due to poor terminal contact.
- Determines if fault is in accelerometer or EBCM.
