Diagnosis & Repair

  1. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on. Select MAP sensor parameter. Start engine and record MAP sensor value. If MAP sensor value changes more than 33 kPa, go to next step. If MAP sensor value does not change as specified, go to step 3).
  2. Select CLEAR INFORMATION function. Operate vehicle within FREEZE FRAME conditions. If DTC P0106 resets, go to step 4). If DTC P0106 does not reset, check for an intermittent problem. See TESTS W/O CODES article.
  3. Check MAP sensor vacuum source for leak or restriction. Ensure vacuum source supplies ONLY MAP sensor. Repair as necessary. If vacuum source is okay, replace MAP sensor. Retest system.
  4. Turn ignition on. Disconnect MAP sensor connector. If scan tool displays a MAP sensor value between 4.5 and 4.9 volts, go to next step. If scan tool does not display voltage as specified, check for open or short in MAP sensor signal circuit (Light Green/Red wire). Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
  5. Using a fused jumper wire, ground MAP sensor signal circuit (Light Green/Red wire) at MAP sensor connector. If scan tool displays a value between zero and 0.5 volt, replace MAP sensor. If scan tool does not display voltage as specified, check for open or short in MAP sensor signal circuit (Light Green wire). Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
