Diagnosis & Repair

  1. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on. Select CLEAR INFORMATION function. Operate vehicle within FREEZE FRAME conditions. If DTC P1410 resets, go to next step. If DTC P1410 does not reset, check for an intermittent problem. See TESTS W/O CODES article.
  2. Turn ignition on. Disconnect EVAP tank pressure control solenoid vacuum valve harness connector. Using a test light connected to ground, probe White/Blue wire at connector. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open in ignition feed circuit to EVAP tank pressure control solenoid vacuum valve. Retest system.
  3. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance of EVAP tank pressure control solenoid vacuum valve. If resistance is 33-40 ohms at 68°F (20°C), go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace EVAP tank pressure control solenoid vacuum valve. Retest system.
  4. Disconnect EVAP tank pressure control solenoid vacuum valve vacuum hoses from intake manifold and vacuum pipe. Blow into end of vacuum hose that was disconnected from vacuum pipe. Air should not pass through EVAP tank pressure control solenoid vacuum valve. Using scan tool, command EVAP tank pressure control solenoid vacuum valve ON. Air should now pass through solenoid vacuum valve. If solenoid vacuum valve operates as specified, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, replace EVAP tank pressure control solenoid vacuum valve. Retest system.
  5. Check EVAP tank pressure control solenoid vacuum valve control circuit (Red/Green wire) for an open or short. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
