DTC 41, Ignition Signal Circuit, No Signal: Notes

ECM receives ignition fail-safe signal when ignition switch is turned to START position. When ECM receives this signal, it will toggle igniter ON and OFF. As igniter is toggled ON and OFF, it induces a voltage in secondary coil of ignition coil. This induced voltage is then used to fire spark plugs. DTC 41 will set if toggled ignition fail-safe signal is not present at ECM within 3 seconds of cranking.

1. Checks for power at ignition coil.
2. Checks for poor connection at ignition coil or a faulty ignition coil.
3. Checks for an open or short to ground in Brown/White wire or Black/White wire between noise suppressor filter and igniter and/or between ignition coil.
4. Checks for an open Black/Blue wire, a poor noise suppressor filter ground or a faulty noise suppressor filter.
5. Checks for open or short to ground in Brown wire between ECM and noise suppressor filter, or a faulty ECM.
6. Checks for a short to B+ in Brown wire or Brown/White wire.
7. Checks for an open or short to ground in Brown/White wire.
8. Checks for an open in Black/Blue wire or a poor ground connection.
9. Checks to see if ECM is toggling ignition signal. Either an open, a short to ground, or a faulty ECM, or igniter is at fault.
