Test 3

If charge indicator light is on when ignition is off and engine is not running, disconnect alternator 2-wire connector. If charge indicator light goes off, replace regulator. If charge indicator light remains on, repair short to ground in White/Red wire between the alternator terminal "L" and the charge indicator light. See Figure.
