Repair Procedures: Disassembly
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
- Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
- To avoid damage, disconnect the wiring connectors carefully.
- Turn the crankshaft damper pulley so that the No. 1 piston is at top dead center.
Information
- Mark all wirings and hoses to avoid misconnection.
- Start the engine to release the pressure inside the fuel line. Then, remove the fuel pump relay. When the engine runs out of fuel in the fuel line and stops, turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Remove the engine and transmission assembly.

- Remove the automatic transmission.

- Remove the drive plate.
(Refer to Cylinder Block - "DRIVE PLATE ")
- Remove the front driveshaft. (AWD Type)
(Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - "REPAIR PROCEDURES ")
- Remove the differential carrier assembly. (AWD Type)
(Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - "FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER (AWD) ")
- Install the engine assembly to engine stand for disassembly.
- Remove the LH and RH cylinder head assembly.

- Remove the upper oil pan and lower oil pan.
(Refer to Lubrication System - "OIL PAN ")
- Remove the oil pump.
(Refer to Lubrication System - "OIL PUMP ")
- Remove the LH and RH engine mounting support bracket.

- Remove the piston and connecting rod assemblies.
(Refer to Cylinder Block - "PISTON AND CONNECTING ROD ")
- Remove the crankshaft.
(Refer to Cylinder Block - "CRANKSHAFT ")
- Remove the LH and RH water jacket insert.
(Refer to Cylinder Block - "WATER JACKET INSERT ")
- Remove the knock sensor.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "KNOCK SENSOR (KS) ")
- Remove the oil jet (A).
