Repair Procedures: Removal
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the engine and transmission assembly. (Refer to Engine and Transmission Assembly - "ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
")
- Remove the transfer case.
- Disconnect the AWD ECU connector (A).
- Separate the wiring bracket (B) after loosening the mounting bolts.

- Loosen the transfer case upper mounting bolts (A).

- Remove the transfer case after loosening the lower mounting bolts (B).

- Remove the front propeller shaft.
- Loosen the front propeller shaft mounting bolts (A).
Tightening torque:
49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 50.6 lb-ft)

- Remove the front propeller shaft (A).

- Loosen the transfer case upper mounting bolts (A).

- Remove the transfer case after loosening the lower mounting bolts (B).

- Remove the TM transmission bracket (A) after loosening the mounting bolts. [For 2WD specification]
Tightening torque:
34.3 - 46.1 N.m (3.5 - 4.7 kgf.m, 25.3 - 34.0 lb-ft)

- Disconnect the below component.
- Main connector
- Parking release actuator connector
- Parking switch connector
- Electric oil pump (EOP) connector
- Ground line
- Wiring bracket
- Crankshaft position sensor (CKPS) connector

- Separate the AFT feed tube bracket (A, B) after loosening the mounting bolts.
Tightening torque:
- 19.6 - 25.5 N.m (2.0 - 2.6 kgf.m, 14.5 - 18.8 lb-ft)
- 7.8 - 11.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb-ft)

- Remove the Warmer Catalyst Convertor (WCC) [RH].
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (A).
- Remove the clamp (B).
- Remove the Warmer Catalyst Convertor (WCC) (C) after loosening the mounting bolt.

- Remove the dust cover (A) after loosening the mounting bolt.

- Remove the inter cooler bracket (A) after loosening the mounting bolts.

- Rotate the crank shaft and loosen the torque converter mounting bolts (B) by using tool (A).

- Remove the Warmer Catalyst Convertor (WCC) [LH].
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (A).
- Remove the clamp (B).

- Loosen the engine bracket mounting nut (A).

- Lift the engine and transmission using a jack.
- Remove the engine bracket (A) after loosening the mounting bolts.

- Loosen the auto transmission mounting bolts (A) and starter motor mounting bolts (B).
Tightening torque:
- 42.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb-ft)
- 49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)

- Remove the transmission (C) after loosening the auto transmission mounting bolts (A, B).
Tightening torque:
- 42.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb-ft)
- 39.2 - 46.1 N.m (4.0 - 4.7 kgf.m, 28.9 - 34.0 lb-ft)

- Remove the transmission by slowly lowering the jack.
NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage other nearby wiring or parts when removing the transmission assembly.
