ECT Sensor Inspection

  1. Disconnect ECT Sensor connector with ignition switch turned "OFF".
  2. Measure the resistance between signal and ground terminal of ECT Sensor connector. (Component side)
Temperature °C (°F) Resistance (kΩ) Temperature °C (°F) Resistance (kΩ)
    -40 (-40) 48.14 20 (68) 1.15
    -20 (-4) 14.13 ~ 16.83 40 (104) 0.59
    0 (32) 5.79 60 (140) 0.32
    10 (50) 2.31 ~2.59
  3. Is resistance within the specification?

    YES

    • Clear DTC and Test-drive under the enable conditions. After the road test, if this DTC is set, recheck resistance. If not, it is intermittent fault. Go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ".

    NO

    • Check ECT Sensor for contamination, deterioration, or damage. Substitute with a known-good ECT Sensor and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace ECT Sensor and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
