Brake Light Switch Check

  1. Turn "Off" the ignition switch.
  2. Disconnect the brake light switch connector.
  3. Measure resistance between power terminal and signal terminal of the brake light switch connector.

    Specification: 

    Resistance between terminals of the brake light switch - ∞Ω (when the plunger is pushed down), 0 Ω (when the plunger is not pushed down).

    Resistance between the terminals of the brake switch - ∞Ω (when the plunger is not pushed down), 0 Ω (when the plunger is pushed down).

  4. Is the result within specifications?

    YES 

    • Replace it with a new stop signal relay and see if it properly operates. If the problem is cleared, put the new stop signal relay in place and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO 

    • Replace it with a new brake light switch and see if it properly operates. If the problem is cleared, put the new brake light switch in place and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
