Removal Procedure
WARNING:
Refer to Brake Dust Warning .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (6-Lug Wheel)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (8-Lug Wheel)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Dual Rear Wheels) .
- Remove the brake rotor. Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JD9)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J95)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J96) .
- Clean the area surrounding the wheel speed sensor of any accumulated dirt and debris.
Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1) and release the retainer from the shock absorber tower.
- Release the wheel speed sensor harness retainers (2) and (3) from the steering knuckle.
- NOTE:
Do not reuse the wheel speed sensor bolt.
Remove and discard the wheel speed sensor bolt (1).
Remove the wheel speed sensor (1) from the wheel hub and bearing assembly by gently twisting and pulling the sensor straight upward.
