Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Disconnect the sensor wire from the battery negative cable connector.

  3. Open the battery fuse block cover (1) and remove the battery negative cable fastener (4).
  4. Remove the battery negative cable terminal (2) attached to the battery fuse block stud (3).
  5. Remove the battery negative cable ground fastener (6) and remove the battery negative cable terminal (5) from the wheel well.

  6. Detach the battery current sensor from the battery tray.
  7. Disconnect the body harness connector (1) from the battery current sensor (2).
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  9. Disconnect the electronic power steering (EPS) connector (2), from the battery negative cable connector (1), attached to the front frame crossmember.

  10. Remove the battery negative cable frame ground fastener (2) and remove the battery negative cable terminal (1), from the chassis frame.
  11. Remove the underbody splash shield. Refer to Underbody Splash Shield Replacement (without ZR2)Underbody Splash Shield Replacement (with ZR2) .

  12. Remove the battery negative cable engine block fastener (1) and remove the battery negative cable terminal (2), from the engine block.
  13. Lower the vehicle.

    NOTE:

    Note the routing of the battery negative cable within the engine compartment.

  14. Remove the battery negative cable (1) from the engine compartment.
